Barbizon village is dear to our family. In 1937, my grand father built our week end house on the border of the Fontainebleau forest, 55Km SE of Paris. preserved as it was in the late 1800's, this traditional French country village is rich in art and culture. With quality galleries and fine hotels, this picturesque hidden treasure is worth a visit. Our son Bernard and his family live there.
When visiting Barbizon, plan to discover the nearby most beautiful French 17th century castle, Vaux le Vicomte. I love to visit this in summer, its garden is sumptuous.
